I see rappers are still bitching about Oprah. Morons calling for a boycott. Even more morons saying, yeah! That was disrespectful.

Who gives a fuck if Oprah rarely has rappers on her show? Rappers rarely have clothed women in their videos. I figure they are close to even.

There is no reason she lower her standards if they won't raise theirs.

Of all the crap out there to protest this ain't one. If you want get trifling, boycott the whiners for crying.

A Black kid being sent to etiquette class in order to learn a White thing.

Black and White people fetishizing their lovers because of their new skin.

This is the state of my country.

I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry after watching that first episode of "Black. White."

And to think that I was anticipating this series.

WTF is "ghetto," anyway?

I was eavesdropping on a conversation between a friend of a friend and his coworker.

They were talking about their favorite tv shows and he mentioned that he's very behind times in his tastes, with The Cosby Show topping his list followed by The Jeffersons and What's Happenin.

In response his coworker snickered and said, "Oh my gah, you're so ghetto!"

His eyes bulged out, but he cordially smiled and said he wasn't "ghetto," just "old-school." And that he's not street.

He asked questions wanting to know why she was assuming that he was acting so gangsta and she laughed.

But I knew she wasn't saying "ghetto" as in PJ chic.

The guy looks like Poindexter. He's favorite show is The Cosby Show!

"Ghetto" meant Black. And being soooo Black is bad.

I asked her what were her favorites and she said One Tree Hill and I think Dawson's Creek.

Now I wanted to see her reaction to being called so White.

Trying to sound as insulting as I could. Mimicking her tone, I got out, "You're so," but then I got stuck.

I smiled because it was like that famous Richard Pryor and Chevy Chase skit on SNL.

Not only was there was nothing to trump "ghetto." There wasn't really an equal.

"Honky" was about to follow, I decided not to stoop, but to do something productive.

I wanted to start a discussion on this, too.

I wanted to know why.

But I said nothing. Knowing she wouldn't admit her mindset.

We'd just be overreacting. Acting like Jesse Jackson. Or acting Black. Ghetto.

I resigned upon coming upon the realization that generating any real discussion would have been as productive as screaming honky.

Lately many people have been telling me that if they don't see me until next year, "Have a happy Kwanza!"

Not really paying attention to the holiday greeting, I've been saying, "You, too!"

I only got the joke when the guy I said this to was wearing a kippa.

*sigh*

I need sleep.

I dread the next coming weeks. People are going to start bombarding me with gifts.

I'm trying to avoid giving gifts, but can't do that when they give. *GRR*

I was thinking about making cookies to hand out from recipes from one of those Kraft magazines. But this is the same magazine that suggested serving warm sliced apples with American cheese melted on top.

Damn. These guys will be seriously gypped either way.

Gotta love the holiday season.

I'm actually debating going off insurance, again.

If you look at how much it costs a year, it isn't so bad. But I don't look at cost per year. I break it up monthly. Then weekly. Then factor in car expenses, savings allotments, and stuff.

And then bitch about how it all looks expensive as hell.

But, iono.

It seems as if the only times I really get hurt is just when I stop being covered.

I'm scuuuurred.

One should not tempt the fates, but I don't part with my money so easily.

I was watching "The View" today and they ran a segment from one of Kanye West's "20/20" interviews where he says that he isn't offended when a White person says "nigger," but is offended when "be" begins to be interjected into the conversation.

Star agreed and explained how she gets upset when a White person introduces himself/herself to another White person and they get a hi, but she gets, "Whaddup, Sista!"

The rest of the panel just didn't get it saying that that's a mainstream greeting now. Meredith said that she catches the "ya'll" from her Down South cousin and it's like that.

But I get you, Star.

It's not that the person is catching the vernacular from you because they are just meeting you and you probably don't even speak like that.

It's not that the "yo," "be," or "whaddup" is mainstream that is the problem, either.

It's when the situation goes like this. . .

To non-Black person #1: "Hi!"

To non-Black person #2: "Hello!"

To non-Black person #3: "Nice to meet you!"

To me: "Yo, whaddup, girl? You good? You good?"

It's cool if a person, Black or otherwise, speaks like that. Introduces himself/herself as such all of the time. But when the situation is like above, is it difficult to see how it's offending?

I wouldn't say this is a White issue. It's one of those things I get from many non-Blacks.

Actually, as I reflect, I think at this point in my life I think it's more common for me to be called "dog" or "nigga" by a non-Black, lol.

I thought Star would mention similar. It might just be me, though. Or maybe she was overcoming the shock of the unawareness of her co-hosts, lol.

I tend not to get mad at the situation anymore. I can show the perp how it's patronizing, but I suppose I've become numb, otherwise. If they don't see my point, it's kinda like, whateva, dumbass. Nice to meet you, too.

I used to get worked up about it when I was younger, but now I find it more worth my time to pretend that I don't understand. To play Oreo.

"Give you skin? Are you Shylock?"

"Whaddup, dog? Why do you people call each other dogs?"

Or I just give a blank stare followed by, "excuse me?"

It's more entertaining. To me, at least.

The situation isn't uncommon and so I was shocked how unaware the rest of the panel was, too.

Well, not shocked by Elizabeth, but I thought at least the others would have been able to recall a moment where they saw such a thing and wondered, "wtf?"
